Techniques and Treatment

MFR consists of structural hands on techniques, Myofascial Unwinding and Myofascial Rebounding.

Myofascial Release promotes the philosophy that the mind and body are one of the same. The body has the ability to remember postural positions, emotions and positions of trauma. Recent research has suggested that consciousness flows throughout our body within the fascial system. Physical trauma, emotion and memories both good and bad can be trapped within our fascial system and manifest as physical pain. With the help of MFR a patients emotional and physical holding pattern can be addressed and released from the body.

The therapist will identify the fascial restrictions which lye within the body, slow sustained pressure will allow the fascia to begin to ‘unwind'. The body will slowly restore equilibrium and balance, therefore reducing pain and restoring movement.

MFR is used in conjunction with soft tissue techniques, manual therapy, acupuncture, clinical pilates and a home exercise programme.

Myofascial Unwinding is the release of the tight fascia, as the patient relaxes they may feel there bodies beginning to move during treatment. This is a natural process and it is the bodies own way of releasing the restrictions and self-healing, allowing the patient to take control of there own health.

Myofascial Rebounding is the gentle rocking of the body to confuse the central nervous system, release the body's holding patterns and reduce tensions and tightness throughout the body.
